Hosting location: country and network (ASN)
TL;DR
The country your server sits in and the network (autonomous system, ASN) that carries it decide how far every request travels to reach your visitors.
Explain Simply
Your website lives in a warehouse. If your customers are in Hà Nội and the warehouse is in America, every order crosses the ocean before it arrives. A CDN is a chain of small local shops that keep copies near your customers.
Every page view starts with a round trip from the visitor's browser to your server. Inside Vietnam or to Singapore that trip usually takes well under 50 ms; to the United States or Europe it often takes 150 ms or more, and a page needs several of them (DNS, TLS, the HTML, then its resources).
The ASN (autonomous system number) names the network that announces your server's address — a hosting company (Viettel IDC, VNPT, Vultr, DigitalOcean…) or a CDN.
A CDN (Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai, CloudFront…) answers from an edge near the visitor. Its addresses are anycast, so an IP-geolocation database shows the CDN's home country, not where your visitors are served from — that is why the country is not judged behind a CDN. HTML the CDN does not cache still travels to your origin server.

⚡Why It Matters
Server distance adds directly to Time to First Byte, which delays Largest Contentful Paint — one of Google's Core Web Vitals. For a site written for Vietnamese visitors, hosting in Vietnam or a nearby region, or a CDN with edges in Vietnam, removes that delay.
